The 1st Battalion, 180th Infantry Branch was a unit of the United States Army. It was part of the 45th Infantry Division.  The 1st Battalion, 180th Infantry Branch was originally organized in 1918 as Company C, 3d Infantry. It was redesignated as Company L, 180th Infantry in 1921. In 1940, it was inducted into federal service and reorganized as the Headquarters Detachment, 1st Battalion, 180th Infantry. In 1942, it was reorganized again as the Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 180th Infantry. In 1945, it was inactivated at Camp Bowie, Texas. In 1946, it was reorganized as the 45th Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop, Mechanized. In 1948, it was reorganized as the 45th Reconnaissance Company. In 1949, it was reorganized as Company H, 180th Infantry. In 1950, it was ordered into active federal service.
